Characteristics of Prophet Muhammad

Some of the merits of our Noble Prophet Peace and blessings be upon him
Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, is the best among all the creation of Allah. He has superiority over all human beings, including all the messengers and the prophets of Allah. Allah Himself says in the Qur’an: [Those Messengers, We gave superiority to some over the others] (Al-Baqarah 2:253). Prophet Muhammad is also reported to have said in a number of authentic hadiths, “I am the leader of all the children of Adam, but I do not boast about it."
The merits of our noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him are numerous and countless. In this article we will try to very briefly discuss some of those merits in which he was unique. No other human had such merits.
The Messenger of Allah, may peace be upon him, said: I have been given superiority over the other prophets in six respects: I have been given words which are concise but comprehensive in meaning; I have gained victory by terror (in the hearts of enemies): spoils have been made lawful to me; the earth has been made for me clean and a place of worship; I have been sent to all mankind; and the line of prophets is closed with me Sahih Muslim
Some of the other merits of our Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him are:
- The only human that Allah swore with his life “Verily, by your life (O Muhammad), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly."( Al-Hijr:72)
- Allah Praised him
“And verily, you (O Muhammad) are on an exalted standard of character." ( Al-Qalam:4)
“Have We not opened your breast for you (O Muhammad)? And removed from you your burden, Which weighed down your back? And raised high your fame? So verily, with the hardship, there is relief" (AlSharh:1-5)
- The only Prophet who was called by Names other that his like,
“O Messenger (Muhammad)! Proclaim (the Message) which has been sent down to you from your Lord. And if you do not, then you have not conveyed His Message. Allah will protect you from mankind. Verily, Allah guides not the people who disbelieve." (Al-Ma'idah:67)
“O Prophet! When believing women come to you to give you the Bai'a (pledge), that they will not associate anything in worship with Allah, that they will not steal, that they will not commit illegal sexual intercourse, that they will not kill their children, that they will not utter slander, intentionally forging falsehood (i.e. by making illegal children belonging to their husbands), and that they will not disobey you in any Ma'ruf (Islamic Monotheism and all that which Islam ordains) then accept their Bai'a (pledge), and ask Allah to forgive them, Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Al-Mumtahinah:12)
“O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad)! Stand (to pray) all night, except a little." (Al-Muzzammil:1-2)
“O you (Muhammad) enveloped (in garments)! Arise and warn! And your Lord (Allah) magnify! And your garments purify! And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)!" (Al-Muddathir:1-5)
- The Holy Quran is the book protected by God himself
“Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'an) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)." (Al-Hijr:9)
While other Holy books were entrusted to its followers. The Holy Quran says: “Verily, We did send down the Taurat (Torah) [to Musa (Moses)], therein was guidance and light, by which the Prophets, who submitted themselves to Allah's Will, judged the Jews. And the rabbis and the priests [too judged the Jews by the Taurat (Torah) after those Prophets] for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah's Book, and they were witnesses thereto. Therefore fear not men but fear Me (O Jews) and sell not My Verses for a miserable price. And whosoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, such are the Kafirun (i.e. disbelievers - of a lesser degree as they do not act on Allah's Laws )." (Al-Ma'idah:44)
- The seal of the Prophets and sent to all mankind not a certain race
“Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the last (end) of the Prophets. And Allah is Ever AllAware of everything." (Al-Ahzab:40)
“And We have sent you (O Muhammad) not but as a mercy for the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)." (Al-Anbiya:107)
“Blessed be He Who sent down the criterion (of right and wrong, i.e. this Qur'an) to His slave (Muhammad) that he may be a warner to the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns)." (Al-Furqan:1)
- He has the situation of praise and glory “And in some parts of the night (also) offer the Salat (prayer) with it (i.e. recite the Qur'an in the prayer), as an additional prayer (Tahajjud optional prayer Nawafil) for you (O Muhammad). It may be that your Lord will raise you to Maqaman Mahmuda (a station of praise and glory, i.e. the highest degree in Paradise!).“(Al-Isra':79)
