Characteristics of Prophet Muhammad
peace and blessing be upon him
The Muhammadan Faithfulness
Faithfulness is a gracious nature. So, the Messenger of Allah, God’s blessing and peace be upon him, was in the highest position concerning this characteristic. His faithfulness and his treatment to his kinship is cited as an example. Anyhow, he is entitled to be so since he is the master of the faithful and the righteous more than all human beings. The following signs confirm this truth:
1. Abdallah Ibn Abu al-Hamsaa said, ‘Before the Prophet was sent, I sold him a sale but he did not take all the sale because not all the goods (things he wanted) were with me. So, I promised to bring him the leftover in the evening, but I forgot the whole matter and after three days, I remembered that, I came to the place I promised him to be in three days before. I was so astonished when I saw him fixed in his place. When he saw me he said, ‘O young man! You have exhausted me, I have been waiting you here for three days’. The same thing happened to his grandfather Ishmael, may God have mercy upon him, who was praised by God in His Holy Book, {Also mention in the Book (the story of) Isma’il: He was (strictly) true to what he promised, and he was an apostle (and) a Prophet. He used to ejoin on his people prayer and charity, and he was most acceptable in the sight of his Lord}(Maryam V., 54, 55). ’
2. In the Mufrad literature, al-Bukhari transmitted from Anas Ibn Malik the following hadith (discourse): He said that the Prophet, God’s blessing and peace be upon him, brought a present and said to me, ‘Take this present to the house of so and so, she was Khadija’s friend, she liked Khadija’. O servant of God! What a great faithfulness! He honored the friends of Khadija after her death, may God be pleased with her.
3. A’isha, may God be pleased with her, said, ‘I have never been jealous of a woman like Khadija when I heard him mentioning her. He used to slaughter an ewe and offer it to her friends. When her sister visited him, he honored her and when a woman of Khadija’s friends came to him, he received her warmly and respected her and when she went out he said, ‘She used to visit us in the days of Khadija. Faithfulness of belief’,’
Thus the faithfulness of the beloved Muhammad, God’s blessing and peace be upon him, appears so clear. He was so faithful to all the people even the dead.
