Womens' Rights in Islam
The concept of equality between Men and Women in Islam
"I shall not lose sight of the labor of any of you who labors in My way, be it man or woman; each of you is equal to the other “(3:195)
This verse from the noble Quran actually summarizes one of Islam’s most profound rules.
The distinction between the man and the woman is not due to any preference by Allah, The Almighty, of the man or the woman on any account of being nobler or closer to the Lord.
As a rule, it is piety and only piety that is the measure of ascendancy, nobility and closeness to Allah:
“O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. one of the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2)]. Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware. “ (AlHujuraat:13)
So the more pious you are the closer to God you are. This is the rule, regardless of your race, gender or color. In fact equality in Islam is entirely based on this simple rule.
